Slicker systems: Improving the customer and supplier experience
This presentation on IT Strategy is tailored for SMEs and locally-based organisations, including public sector, charities and NGOs. Gone are the days when “IT” decided what systems a business organisation would have. “IT” (and/or the Finance Director where there are no IT staff as such) is there to support the business in its needs, to put forward the possible, advise on the impossible and to ensure the systems provided support the organisation in its future strategies. John will discuss current and emerging opportunities using IT, ways of integrating appropriate elements into an organisation’s overall business strategy, then leading to the development of IT Strategy reflecting an organisation’s revised needs.
About John Oates
John Oates is Chairman of the ICAEW’s IT Faculty, and is part of the IT Advisory Services group at Baker Tilly, Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers who work with a large number of small and medium-sized organisations within all sectors.
John specialised full time in IT many years ago. He and his team have advised many organisations on appropriate IT strategies to support their business strategies, developing these with them as their businesses have grown and developed.

Sharing the successes: How the most advanced organisations are creating value through Business Analytics
Jonathan will frame his presentation with reference to the key trends in how Business Analytics is evolving in leading organisations today and the key drivers of success. This will be brought to life through several short case examples where organisations are succeeding in adding significant business value through the use of Business Analytics. Jon will finish by referencing to some of the key challenges organisations are facing on the journey together with his thoughts on how to overcome these.
About Jonathan Batson
Jonathan Batson is an Associate Partner in IBM Global Business Services who specialises in Business Analytics and Optimisation. He has 26 years experience as a management consultant and specialises in clients on the boundary between the private and public sector, such as railways, central government and regulated businesses. He leads the Business Dynamics Group, the Centre of Excellence for modelling and analytics with IBM UK. This expertise has been particularly been applied in the areas of business planning & strategy, cost analysis and commercial contracts. During his career he has also specialised in taking the results of this numeric analysis and assisting clients with the implementation of this advice. He therefore understands how to introduce successful change into large complex organisations.
